TITLE:	SEAWEED SUNSET
INSPIRATION:	This sculpture was inspired by the Kentish coast, Seasalter to be precise, one of my favourite places on earth.  I spent an afternoon down there this summer photographing and sketching the rugged unspoilt coastline.  The perfect end of a lovely afternoon was a stunning sunset sparkling over the incoming tide in the golden hues of the perfect light.  The heavy texture and vibrant colours reflect this mood perfectly.

DIMENSIONS:	30"W x 20"H x 1½"D  (76cm x 51 cm x 3.8cm)
COLOURS:	Golden hues, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, washed with red, copper, copper/gold and gold.  The 'seaweed' is washed with mica, adding the essential sparkle that I found so breathtaking!
DETAILS:	Using a triple primed Loxley professional canvas a layer of muslin has been added to the entire canvas and then several more layers in the centre section.  Papier mache 'seaweed' have been added between the layers giving an embedded effect.   The pulp is then left to dry, usually for a week or more if the ambient temperature is low or the pulp is very thick.  It is then sealed again before being layered with professional quality acrylic paints, two coats of varnish are then applied  to preserve this beautiful work of art. The sides are textured and painted, so there is no need to frame and therefore ready to hang straightaway. A Certificate of Authenticity, stating details of the sculpture, signed and dated by the artist, will be included. Care Instructions will also be included.
